ChatGPT Work Is Live: What OpenAI’s New Work Agent Actually Does
ChatGPT Work Is Live: What OpenAI's New Work Agent Actually Does
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work on July 9, 2026. Rather than repeat the launch-day headlines, I pulled the example use cases straight from OpenAI's own product page so you can see exactly what it's meant to be used for.
OpenAI describes ChatGPT Work as a new agent in ChatGPT that gathers context, creates polished outputs, and keeps projects moving according to plan.[1] Three things stand out to me in how OpenAI itself frames it.
One of the listed output types is worth pausing on: websites. ChatGPT Work can spin up a simple site or dashboard as part of a task. That's useful for an internal tracker, but it's a different job entirely from a properly built website meant for customers, which is worth knowing before anyone assumes it replaces that kind of work.
Real Example Prompts, Straight From OpenAI
These are the exact example use cases OpenAI lists on the ChatGPT Work product page, not paraphrased marketing copy.[1]
The pattern across all eight: point it at real, messy inputs (calendars, spreadsheets, Slack threads, email) and ask for a specific, finished output. None of them are open-ended "help me with marketing" prompts. That specificity is worth copying regardless of which agent tool you're using, and it applies just as well to marketing workflows as it does to the operations examples OpenAI lists.
